Executive Coordinating Committee
The MAASU Executive Coordinating Committee (ECC) is MAASU’s primary undergraduate leadership body, composed of student leaders from across the Midwest who guide MAASU’s annual priorities, student-facing initiatives, and conference execution.
What is the Executive Coordinating Committee?
The MAASU Executive Coordinating Committee (ECC) is MAASU’s primary undergraduate leadership body, composed of student leaders from across the Midwest who guide MAASU’s annual priorities, student-facing initiatives, and conference execution.
The ECC works in close partnership with the Executive Director to coordinate MAASU programming and ensure that MAASU remains responsive to the needs of APIDA student organizations and their communities.
ECC members collaborate across institutions to plan and deliver MAASU’s major events, especially the Fall Leadership Summit and Spring Conference, while strengthening MAASU’s membership network, leadership development pipeline, and campus-to-campus connection.
The ECC is made up of undergraduate student leaders who support MAASU’s operations through specialized roles that may include areas such as:

How long will you need to serve?
Elected through MAASU’s student leadership processes and two-thirds (2/3) majority vote from Membership Representatives and the Director’s Council (DC)
Expected to maintain active communication with the Executive Director and relevant Directors
Expected to support MAASU initiatives consistently throughout the term, including conference planning, outreach, and organizational operations
Expected to attend MAASU meetings and participate in major MAASU events (Leadership Summit, Spring Conference, and/or seasonal retreats, as applicable)
What is the ECC impact?

ECC members have been coordinating timelines and infrastructure to ensure a smooth conference experience, including workshop development, accessibility planning, and communication systems for schools attending the Leadership Summit and Spring Conference.

ECC has continued building relationships with member schools and supporting Membership Representatives (M-Reps) by sharing tools, answering questions, and helping campus leaders strengthen APIDA student organizations through sustainable practices.

The committee has been strengthening MAASU communication channels to ensure member schools receive timely updates, clear registration information, and leadership opportunities.

ECC has contributed to documentation and organizational continuity work by archiving materials, updating internal guides, and improving handoffs for future conference host teams and student leaders.
Serving on the ECC is an opportunity for APIDA student leaders to shape MAASU’s direction, strengthen their leadership skills, and build meaningful relationships across Midwest campuses.
